It may take a little practice but once you master the art of shucking oysters and smelling the freshness and taste of a fresh oyster it is worth the effort.。

Use an oyster knife to open oysters; these are designed to open oysters efficiently without causing grievous bodily harm.

Place the oyster flat side up, on a firm surface.

Insert the knife between the two adjoining shells and drill until the knife makes a small
Slide the knife blade inside the top flat shell so that you cut the muscle that’s holds the top & bottom shells together.

The flat top lid of the oyster is now free, ready for you to cut the muscle from the bottom shell.
Insert the knife blade on the left side of the oyster, slicing down while following the shell contour, so that you cut the oyster muscle from the bottom shell.

Slide the oyster blade underneath the oyster so as to turn it round.

Your fresh oyster is now ready to eat as it is, or add any variety of condiments.
